Christmas Mobiles and Tree Decorations

A mobile hangs at eye level, it moves, and it can stay up after the tree comes down. Flensted has made mobiles in Denmark since 1954, and the Christmas designs hang on fine threads that turn slowly with the warm air in a room.

Christmas mobiles from Flensted

On the Christmas Tree mobile, Ole Flensted arranged six small trees, red hearts and a star so that together they draw one large tree. A larger version carries ten trees. The angels come in several flights: the Angel Family, Peace Angels, the Trumpet Angel and the Turning Angels. The Concert Angel is based on an old Danish paper cut-out from a concert programme, and Pixies in the Xmas Forest brings a little mischief to the window.

The Stella tree base

Fritz Hansen's Stella base sits under a real tree. An eight-point star runs around its gilt cup, the cup holds water so the tree stays fresh, and small screws keep the trunk upright all season.
