Knoll

Knoll has lived their guiding principle, "good design is good business," since 1938. Products are all created to inspire, fit, and last. The Bauhaus philosophy that furniture should complement, not compete with architecture, is central to Knoll's design. Its extensive portfolio includes office work systems, residential mid-century modern classics, textiles, and accessories.

Designers like Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen, Warren Platner, Isamu Noguchi, and Florence Knoll contributed to Knoll's iconic designs. Knoll invests in research and field studies and explores organizational behavior and technology to ensure quality excellence. As a leader in sustainability, Knoll's practices reduce waste and conserve resources. Based in Pennsylvania, Knoll has a strong international presence, and 40 products are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Knoll Furniture and Seating

Knoll was founded in New York in 1938 by Hans Knoll. Florence Knoll, who joined in 1943 and married Hans in 1946, built the Knoll Planning Unit, coordinating the furniture, textiles, and interiors that defined postwar American commercial architecture.

KnollStudio is the residential and contract collection. Harry Bertoia's wire chairs, including the Side Chair, Diamond Chair, and Bird Chair, have been in continuous production since 1952. Eero Saarinen's Womb Chair (1948) and Tulip Chair (1956) remain central to the program. Warren Platner's steel rod furniture, introduced in 1966, is also in continuous production. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Chair and Brno Chair, Marcel Breuer's Cesca Chair and Laccio Table, and Jens Risom's early pieces are all produced to their original specifications. Florence Knoll's own seating and case goods are part of the collection.

Knoll Office covers professional task seating: the Generation Chair, Life Chair, MultiGeneration Chair, and Marc Newson's Newson Task Chair. Richard Schultz's 1966 Collection handles the outdoor portion of the range, originally developed for Florence Knoll's personal use.
