In Febe, everything is reduced to a minimum and built around the optical engine that, with maximum yield in minimum thickness, ensures excellent performance to illuminate an entire room. Febe has an elementary shape, yet a rich performance, it focuses on light emission and its formal simplicity makes it almost invisible in space. A uniform light disk protrudes from the surface of the ceiling/wall, the color frame moves back inwardly and can only be seen from the side. Designed for home environments, its essential shape makes it fit for all spaces.

Upholding Italy's reputation for excellence and innovation in design, Artemide is a world leader in contemporary lighting. Offering both residential and commercial lighting solutions, Artemide has made forward thinking a company policy. Instantly recognizable designs originating from the 1960's, when Artemide was founded by Ernesto Gismondi, are still in production today along side contemporary lighting creations by current acclaimed designers. Artemide's expansive catologue ranges from the organic and elegant Logico collection to the clean and simple spheres of the Castore family. Many of the most iconic products of history can be found here.
The Artemide Group is much more than lighting. A core element of the manufacturer is their commitment to ethical conduct and social responsibility. A progressive environmental policy is also a major element in both production methods and technology research. What Artemide is most widely known for however, is a coined design philosophy that defines the company's approach: the Human Light Philosophy. Thoughtfully considering the user's lifestyle, daily activities and investment in home, Human Light sets out to provide an illuminated companion, rather than just simply illumination. Lights that are adaptable, flexible and allow for optimum visual precision while conserving environmental resources are Human Lights. A light that accompanies us during our daily activities and has a tangible effect on our well being, emotional health and ultimately our quality of life is Artemide.

- Ernesto Gismondi
Gismondi was born in 1931 in Italy, and studied aeronautical and missile engineering in Milan and Rome. In 1959, he founded the lighting company Artemide with Sergio Mazza. From 1970 onwards he designed a number of lights, including the Tholos Wall Lamp in 1979 and the Zen in 1988. He became established as an international designer, participating in “Memphis,” an avant-garde movement that brought about a profound evolution in the design sector both in Italy and worldwide.
Over the years, under his guidance, the Artemide Group saw its international reach increase, making it one of the main players in the lighting design sector, a role that earned him important acknowledgements, including the Compasso d’Oro Award for Career Achievements (1994) and the European Design Prize (1997).
In 2008 he received the Ernst & Young Prize, “Entrepreneur of the Year” for the Innovation Category and the President of the Italian Republic, appointed him “Cavaliere del Lavoro,” an Italian award given to important figures in industry.
