Artemide Oblique Floor Lamp
This outdoor lamp expresses a combination between a sprouting plant and a guiding light. The oblique light head pushes up and stretches the vertical stem just like a bean sprout. The design conveys 2 dimensions that make the piece nearly disappear in some angles and provide solid support in others. The outer shell, of varying heights, wraps around the lighting head to hold it in place. The slightly downward angle projects the LED light via the high-performance reflector and prevents glare while defining a quiet light zone.

“Design is an uncontrolled muscle.” - Arik Levy
Born in Israel, Arik Levy moved to Europe in 1988. Following studies at the Art Center Europe in Switzerland where he gained a distinction in Industrial Design in 1991, Levy’s first international success was winning the Seiko Epson Inc. competition, which jettisoned him into the public consciousness as a “thinking” designer. He currently works in Paris with his 20-strong team of designers and graphic artists that make up L design.
Under the vision of Levy and his associate, Pippo Lionni, the firm also produces brand identities, packaging, signage, exhibition and interior design. Respected for his furniture and light designs for Vitra and Vibia, Levy also creates hi-tech clothing lines and accessories for firms in the Far East.

Founded in Milan by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza in the 1960s, Artemide is a worldwide leader in lighting design, committed to technological innovation, research, and human interaction. Artemide aligned with the Memphis Design Movement and was an early proponent of LED technology. Ethical conduct and social responsibility are at the heart of Artemide’s values.
Artemide’s expansive catalog spans Logico’s organic and elegant hand-made blown glass diffusers to the Castore family’s clean and simple spheres. They have created award-winning, iconic collaborations with some of the world’s most talented designers, including Naoto Fukasawa, David Chipperfield, Zaha Hadid, Jean Nouvel, Karim Rashid, and Herzog & De Meuron, upholding Italy’s reputation for excellence and innovation.
